Whether on the beach or in the rainforest, no visit to Costa Rica is complete without a monkey sighting. While their widespread distribution is beneficial for visitors, close contact with humans can pose problems for the animals themselves. The Puerto Viejo-based Jaguar Rescue Center (JRC) has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing monkeys and other native Costa Rican animals since 2008. With this edition of our Habitat line, Britt supports the JRC's monkey program by donating wildlife crossings that prevent accidental deaths, as well as renovating a temporary rehabilitation barn. Like JRC, this coffee comes from the Limón province on the Caribbean coast. The dark roast highlights its rich, chocolatey flavor, balanced by delicate acidity and a robust body.

• The coffee is packaged immediately after roasting and grinding to ensure optimal freshness. Carbon dioxide is released during the roasting process, which can last up to three days. Therefore, the three-layer packaging incorporates a one-sided freshness valve, allowing the gases to escape while protecting the coffee from sunlight and oxygen.
